It's A Metal Mix-Up!

IF YOU CHOOSE GOLD FOR YOUR HEIRLOOM JEWELLERY, THE UNSPOKEN RULE IS THERE'S NO mixing it with any lesser metals, especially silver. But rules were made to be broken and, as of this week, far from being a fashion faux pas, mixing silver and gold looks amazing!

A bunch of top designers, from Lanvin to Giambattista Valli and Phillip Lim, have been combining the two with wild abandon, and it has turned into one of the freshest trends for summer.

Lanvin mixed silver and gold into a gorgeous burnished tote bag; Dior's silver and gold 'Extreme' shoes are gleaming show-stoppers; Burberry combined pewter dupion silk dresses with gold croc clutches, and Fendi teamed mixed-metal belts with gold and silver dresses. The question is: how come it looks so fabulous now? Well all you need do is look at the pieces. They are as shiny and warm as the sun, and not only do they suit all skin tones, they glam up the luxe boho, '70s tailoring and
all-white trends a treat. Even Victoria Beckham has caught on - she popped gold shoes on with a silver and white Giambattista Valli dress. By picking up clashing metal bangles, platform shoes or a chunky two-tone metal watch you'll discover this summer's easiest way to update an outfit. Oh yes - everyone's going clash metal!
