Two Tone Style Guide
Two Tone 2024
Two tone isn’t exactly a rare style in watchmaking nowadays; of course pairing silver and gold, or silver and rose gold, or any tone pairing that complement each other would be a good idea. You wouldn’t think it would divide opinions like marmite for watch lovers. At Sekonda, we can say we are firmly on the side of loving the two tone look and we’ll tell you why; but if you want to make your own mind up, click below to view all of our two tone watches.

WHAT IS TWO TONE?

Two tone watches fuse two different materials or coloured materials together to create a pattern or design. Two tone watches started appearing as early as the 1920's, however, it wouldn't be until the 1980's that they would make their mark on timepiece styling. Worn by 80's stars such as Tom Selleck, Don Johnson and Richard Gere, two tone watches became desirable and, due to their mixture of materials, achieving the two tone look was much more affordable for those trying to replicate the style .
WHY DID TWO TONE BECOME POPULAR?
Two tone not only became popular because of their appearance on the wrists of celebrities; it would come to be a stylistic embodiment of the slogan ‘work hard, play hard.’ The dual tones not only accentuated the design of the watch, but also made the richer hue more accessible to everyone by fusing it with the more common stainless steel.

STYLING TWO TONE FOR 2024.

Although minimalism may not be completely out of style, maximalism is making a reappearance. Statement pieces and stacking jewellery is a style hack for 2024, and mixing metals is encouraged.

You no longer have to choose between hues. A two tone watch could perfectly tie in some of your favourite pieces to your outfit like a traditional gold wedding band or your favourite bracelet. The versatility of the style makes it easy to express yourself with your favourite accessories as less is no longer more!
